O’Sox is a line of women’s sexy socks with a mission of enhancing intimacy and connection between partners (and oneself), and supporting advancements in sexual education. O’Sox is the first project of Effort & Grace LLC, founded in 2015 by Dr. Andrea Grayson, EdD, MA, with the goal of developing products and services to inspire positive social and behavioral change.
Born into an entrepreneurial family, Andrea’s youth was filled with big-thinking dinner table conversations, and small, action-item activities like stuffing envelopes for mass mailings. This combination of exploring long-range visions while mapping out the small steps to get there has been a life-long mindset and the basis for her work as a communication strategist and social change marketer.
Andrea combines her deep sense of social responsibility and entrepreneurial mindset into her innovative work in the public health area to produce positive behavior changes in targeted audiences. She leverages her big-picture thinking, creative problem solving, and analytical research skills to develop community engagement activities, produce videos, implement communication campaigns and create healthy lifestyle products.
Andrea’s video production work originated with television commercials and music videos in New York City, but quickly turned to educational television. She has held positions at Sesame Street, Channel One, and as a freelancer at Vermont Public Television. Current web-distributed video projects focus on short-form documentary-style productions, and illustrated videos with partner Matt Heywood from The Image Farm.
Andrea received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Art & Aesthetics from Bard College at Simon’s Rock, a Masters in Media Ecology from New York University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Vermont. She also earning a certification in Transformational Health Coaching from Health Coach Institute, and has completed a training from the Coaching and Positive Psychology Institute. Andrea is an adjunct professor at the University of Vermont and St. Michael’s College in Vermont where she teaches Social Change Marketing and Communications for Social Good.
